Ceasarea

North

Ceasarea is one of the most important archaeological sites in Israel.

Especially nice the amphitheater, the theater and the many excavations where you can recognize the various architectural periods.
The history goes back some 2300 years. The Phoenicians started building here, the city was conquered in the Hellenistic period, then of Alexander Jannaeus conquered it and later the Romans took over. Herod the Great enlarged the city and built the port. The city blossomed further in the Byzantine period, the Crusaders came in the 11th century. The Sultan Baybars conquered the city and and later it was captured in Ottoman times.
The film shown on sight is actually very interesting and reflects the history of this place with visual impressions.
